NBA Champion Timofey Mozgov explained why his family now lives in California, separately noting the climatic features of the American state.
In October, the 37-year-old Russian athlete said he saw no point in continuing his professional career. The Russian’s last club was Runa Moscow, which he left in 2022.
— It seemed that you had already left, your children are studying in America…
— The eldest goes to school, the youngest goes to kindergarten. Children must study. This doesn’t mean anything: before that, we lived in Moscow for a long time.
I have such a career – I have changed many teams. I lived in Cleveland and my kid went to first grade in Brooklyn, second grade in Orlando, and third grade here. Now I’m going to the sixth.
“Gone” is a concept that does not apply to my family. We lived there and lived here.
— Is home still Los Angeles?
— Home is when we are all together. While I’m at it. But here I also have a house, a car and friends. There is nothing like coming to Moscow and rediscovering it…
— Why Los Angeles, just because of the climate?
– Yes I like that. It is not cold in winter, nor stifling in summer.
California generally has the best climate. It’s the only place in the world where you can surf in the morning and ski in the afternoon,” Sports.ru quotes Mozgov.
Mozgov became an NBA champion in 2016 as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is also a bronze medalist at the European Championship (2011) and the Olympic Games (2012) as part of the Russian national team.
