The multi-champion winger of NBA, Andre Iguodala, announced that he is retiring from the courts. The player, who won four titles in 19 seasons, all with the Golden State Warriorsthe information was published by the American newspaper “The New York Times”, this Friday, 20.
According to the article, Iguodala decided to take another direction in his life, starting to invest in ‘start-ups’. “He will manage Mosaic, a $200 million venture capital fund he created with longtime business partner Rudy Cline-Thomas.”, states the periodical. Iggy was close to retiring last season, but a conversation with Stephen Curry made him rethink. “Then [Steph] said, ‘No, we’re going to need you to come back for one more.’ And I said, ‘I’ll let you know now, Steph. This will be the last time’”, revealed at the time.
Selected in the 2004 Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, with the ninth pick, the player played the first eight years of his career with the franchise. Then, a quick spell at the Denver Nuggets, in 2012, before signing a contract with the Golden State Warriors, in 2013. There, he was a key player in winning the team’s first title in 40 years, winning three more later. Andre Iguodala retires from the NBA after playing 1,231 regular season games and averaging 11.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists.
