Bagatskis: After all the training, we will decide who will not play against North Macedonia

Ukraine will meet with the Macedonians tomorrow

Head coach of the Ukrainian national team Ainars Bagatskis talked about preparing for the match with North Macedonia qualifying for the 2022 World Cup.

The Ukrainian team arrived in Skopje with 14 basketball players. The coaching staff will determine the final squad for the game after all training sessions.

“We flew to Skopje at 10 am on Saturday, got there in 12 hours. On Sunday we have a working day, training sessions, we will watch videos, and on the day of the game we will have a morning training session, in which we will place emphasis before the match with North Macedonia, ”said Bagatskis.

“On the eve of the game with the Macedonians, we constantly communicate with the coaches about the application for the match, about who should play and who should rest. There is no truth, there are ideas, and we have time until the end of training on Sunday. Let’s see how the players will feel, in what shape they will be.”

“But you need to understand that the game with Spain will already be a game of the second round, there is no longer any need to feel sorry for yourself or your opponent. We have to come to the match with the Spaniards as prepared as possible.”

“Maxim Mikhelson prepared a high-quality review of the match against Georgia, and we got a lot of things that we lacked in the tournament in Portugal – aggressiveness, speed and reasonable actions. After all the training and discussions, we will determine who will not play against the Macedonians.”

On July 1, Ukraine defeated Georgia (79:66) and advanced ahead of schedule to the second round of qualification, the matches of which will be held in August.

Ukraine will play against North Macedonia tomorrow, July 4. The match starts at 19:00 Kyiv time.
