The Superdome of La Rioja had a hot night after the confrontation between the local team, Riachuelo, and the undefeated, Olimpico de La Banda. It was a victory for the Santiago team that added a fourth straight victory and remains the only team in the National League that has yet to lose.
The only one that didn’t fall
The battle in La Rioja was even for most of its course, but “El Negro” often dominated the score. Although the local team couldn’t settle at the start, near the end of the second quarter, Riachuelo scored a partial that put them ahead on points. But Olimpico quickly corrected and closed the first half with two points.
In the second half, “El Lobo” started better and led the scoreboard again. But again, the Santiago team crushed those dreams, marking the difference, which only grew and the local team never recovered. “El Negro” walked away with a maximum of 12 points as reflected in the final result.
The standout in Leonardo Gutiérrez’s team was Juan Arengo. The ex-Regatas guard contributed to the Olympic victory with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Another great role was Jonathan Arengo, the point guard added 16 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists for the La Banda team.
In Riachuelo, the standout was Jonathan Maldonado. The perimeter player excelled with 23 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists for Sebastián González’s team, which lost its third straight game.
What’s next for you two?
Olympic de La Banda will continue on their way, they will head south in a week, to face Platense in Vicente López and then they will face Gimnasia de Comodoro in Socios Fundadores.
On the other hand, Riachuelo will play again in about two weeks and will host Independiente de Oliva at the beginning of the 11th month.
