Giants fall in Pan American debut against Cuba

The Argentine Women’s National Team debuted on October 25 in a competition held in Santiago, Chile. The Giants fell to the Cuban team and now qualification to the next stage in the 2023 Pan American Games is complicated.

The match started dominated by the Giants, the first five minutes were theirs, but the Cuban National Team made a comeback. At the end of the first quarter they pulled away from their rival and did not lose the lead on the scoreboard for the rest of the game. The first half ended with 19 points for the Cubans.

In the second half, Argentina stepped up and despite starting the last quarter with a maximum difference of 23 points, they were able to get close, thanks to the good defense they put up. The match closed in favor of the Cuban team by 12 points.

The highlight of the Central American team is its captain, Anisleidy Galindo. The forward contributed 16 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. Another great role in Margarito Pedroso’s team is María Montero. The point guard added 17 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal.

For the Giants, the standout was Camila Suárez with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.

How is the competition?

The Argentine Basketball Team will face the local team tomorrow, that is, Chile, starting at 8 pm with a need to win to continue to have a chance in the tournament.
