Steve Kerr will not remain head coach American national basketball team after the Paris Olympic Games, reports The Athletic.
Asked if he would continue to work after the Olympic Games, the 58-year-old specialist replied “no”.
— For me, it’s a two-year cycle. Gregg Popovich has worked at the World Championships and the Olympics, now it’s my turn to pass the torch. I think that’s how it should be. In the case of Mike Krzyzewski (who led the team to Olympic gold three times) and Jerry Colangelo (who twice won the US team world championship), everything was different. It made sense for Krzyzewski to stay. But now one cycle and you move on,” Kerr said.
Kerr succeeded Popovich as head coach of Team USA in December 2021. At the 2023 World Cup, the team took fourth place. The specialist has also managed the NBA club Golden State Warriors since 2014.
The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
