Today, Ainars’ wards beat North Macedonia
Head coach of the Ukrainian national team Ainars Bagatskis commented on the victory in the match with North Macedonia (73:68) in qualifying for the 2022 World Cup.
“First of all, I am happy with the victory. We started the game very well, managed the ball well and hit all the shots. It was probably the best quarter of my team in my life,” said Bagatskis.
“Of course we couldn’t go on like this. Both teams put a lot of energy into the match working defensively with a lot of resistance shots.”
“There was a lot of anger. I will not say that the actions were always reasonable, but in this physically difficult game, luck was more on our side.
The triumph over North Macedonia was Bagatskis’ team’s third in five matches in qualifying group G. The Blue-and-Yellows are third in the quartet with eight points.
On July 7, Ukraine will play a match against Spain. It should be noted that the wards of Ainars Bagatskis advanced ahead of schedule to the second round of qualification, the matches of which will be held in August.
