Date 9 of the ACB has come to an end and left us with great performances from the Argentines who managed to win with their teams. Juan Fernández scored the extra in Breogán. Fernando Zurbriggen went into double overtime with Monbus Obradoiro. Nicolás Brussino has been excellent in Gran Canaria. Facundo Campazzo and Gabriel Deck are still undefeated and Nicolás Laprovittola is closely following them.
Río Breogán 85 – Joventut Badalona 77
In Lugo, Breogán achieved a good victory against a Badalona team with many casualties. The game started as the visitors, but at the beginning of the second quarter and thanks to the bench, the locals were able to take advantage. They went into the break with more than ten points in their favor on the scoreboard.
The visitors tried to get into the game with a zonal defense at the start of the second half. They did so and ended up in the lead again. After an impressive run by Badalona, they put themselves four units ahead of Breogán, the illusion was broken. The locals again reacted and won the game by eight points.
Breogán’s standout was Argentine Juan Fernádez. The interior scored 18 points and had 8 rebounds to be the figure of his team, he also made 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block.
Monbus Obradoiro 108 – Baskonia 95
Since the arrival of their new coach, Baskonia has not raised its head and continues to fall in the ACB table. This time he had to visit Obradoiro and after a great game with all the letters and two extras, they lost. After fighting from behind the entire match, Baskonia knew how to tie things up and extend the match to 5 more minutes. Then five more joined them for the second addition.
There was a confrontation between the brothers with Howard in each lineup, (Markus on Baskonia and Jordan on Obradoiro) and they sealed the match. Two straight three-pointers by Jordan put the home team ahead again. His brother Markus countered the attack, which didn’t slow him down and Jordan scored two more to win.
The standout in Moncho Fernández’s team was Tres Tinkle. The American power forward had a double double of 13 points and 11 rebounds, in addition to 2 assists and 3 steals. Also with Obradoiro, Argentine Fernando Zurbriggen had his minutes. The ex-Obras contributed 7 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 1 block.
Gran Canaria 89 – Covirán Granada 75
Nicolás Brussino’s team achieved their third straight win in the Endesa League. They managed a win-loss tie in the standings, now they have 5 games in their favor and 4 losses.
The locals dominated the match but had to compose themselves throughout the match as they lost the 20 point lead they had achieved. Luckily for the Canaries, the Argentine Brussino had another good afternoon and managed to lead them to victory, once again.
The highlight of the match was Nicolás Brussino who contributed 24 points (6 triples out of 10 made), 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal to lead Jaka Lakovic’s team.
Surne Bilbao 84 – Real Madrid 87
Another victory for the merengue team that has not been impressed and continues to remain undefeated in the ACB regular season. This time they gave Surne Bilbao a win at home. They made their visit difficult, closely fought on the scoreboard and did not allow Chus Mateo’s team to grow.
The local team remained at the bottom until the last minutes of the match. They fouled Facundo Campazzo as he attacked the rim and the “Wizard” tied the game with two free throws. The Argentines had a great game with Facu at the helm and Gabriel “Tortu” Deck contributed from his role.
The standout was Facundo Campazzo from Córdoba who led Real Madrid with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. While Gabriel Deck contributed 12 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal, leaving the Argentine with more than a positive balance.
Barcelona 94 – Tenerife 83
The blaugranas managed to dominate the entire match without any fear, but not as comfortably as it seemed. They gradually took advantage from the second period of the game, ending the first half, up five points.
Starting in the second half, Jabari Parker had fire and good defense, the locals were able to overcome the ten point lead. In the end they did everything they could and it was absolutely fascinating to see Tenerife come close but watching Barcelona react with triples was even better.
The standout of those directed by Roger Grimau is Jabari Parker. The outsider contributed 18 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 steal and 2 blocks to lead the culés to victory. Nicolás Laprovittola also got his shooting and here he added 8 points, 1 rebound, 6 assists and 1 steal.
