The Golden State Warriors player is not having his best moment. On Tuesday night he choked a rival in the middle of a match. Watch the video
The NBA started the idea of the In-Season Tournament with the idea that players, fans and the world around the competition would give more importance to the regular stages of the game. And boy does he take some of them seriously. On Tuesday night, with only two minutes left on the game clock and the score still at 0 to 0 A monumental brawl broke out in the middle of the court that ended with Draymond Green choking an opponent with a wrestling hold around his neck. After a few minutes, the referees sent him off and a harsh punishment was expected for the power forward, who already has a long history of aggression.
It all started with a situation in between Jaden McDaniels and Klay Thompson. Players engage in an action, where some try to gain an additional advantage. Until then, nothing unusual. A few hands went too far and it started a brawl like we’ve seen many times in the best competition in the world, but what no one expected was Draymond’s reaction. Rudy Gobert, who came to separate the players, went into a wrestling holdwhere Green put his arm around his neck, took his elbow with his hand, possibly causing breathing complications to the Frenchman who tried to escape from the grip without success.
After the game, which was a win for the Minnesota Timberwolves, the referee Tyler Ford talked to TheAthletic and explained: “Thompson and McDaniels were involved in an altercation that was not immediately resolved and their actions warranted an ejection. Green aggressively put Gobert in a headlock and refused to let go. This is unnecessary and excessive conduct that meets the standard of a 2″ flagrant foul.
The game continued its course after the first argument. Here the teams saw each other on the scoreboard, but those from San Francisco suffered more than necessary from absences (Curry was also absent due to a knee injury), and they fell to the Timberwolves 104 to 101. The Wolves have one balance 2-0 while the Warriors have a record of 1-1, both in Group C of the West.
What’s next:
In the next few hours The NBA will announce penalties that are expected to be severe, especially Green, who has already had two near-consecutive expulsions this season. During their matchup with the Cavs, Draymond was removed from the game and made gestures toward the stands.
