Kyivans finished last season in second place
Budivelnik announced the termination of cooperation with the head coach Igors Miglinieks. The Latvian specialist and the club decided not to renew the contract.
Miglinieks took charge of the Kyiv club in January 2021. Under his leadership, Budivelnik won the Ukrainian Cup, and last season, before the Russian army invaded Ukraine, he was in second place in the Superleague standings.
In June, the Kyiv club applied for participation in the next season of the Basketball Champions League. The Basketball Federation of Ukraine called for Budivelnik to be given a direct ticket to the group round of the Champions League.
In the first match of the Basketball Champions League qualification, Budivelnik’s rival could be Den Bosch (Netherlands), Leicester (Great Britain), Norrköping (Sweden) or Sves Gmunden (Austria).
Recall that FBU Secretary General Volodymyr Drabikovsky said that the new basketball season in Ukraine could start in October in an unusual format.
