NBA: Cade Cunningham opens up about the Pistons: “We are bad”

Detroit franchise is experiencing a terrible streak of 12 consecutive defeats and has the worst campaign in the league; team player vents about moment experienced by the Pistons

This past Monday, the 20th, the Detroit Pistons lost once again, this time to Denver Nuggetsby 107 to 103. Thus, the season did not start well for the franchise, which sank even further with the 12th consecutive defeat in the NBA, presenting the worst campaign in the league, with 2-13. After last Sunday’s defeat, the 19th, to Toronto Raptorsthe shipowner Cade Cunningham talked about the moment the team is going through while talking to journalists.

“We have to be realistic about the situation. […] It’s hard to be like, ‘Oh, we’re good, we’re good,’ because we’re bad. We have to talk about this”, said the team’s big star. Cade scored 18 points on Sunday, the 19th, in addition to another 27 this past Monday, the 20th, being the Pistons’ best player in both games. Monty Williamscoach of the Detroit franchise, also took the opportunity to point out that the youth of the squad is one of the main reasons for the pessimistic scenario. “I think some of our players are dealing with how difficult the league is. When you’re facing this, the only thing you can control is your level of competitiveness. I didn’t see that in general tonight.”he stated.

“This should be the last thing that is asked or talked about with us, how hard we compete. This should be a certainty”he stated. “When we wake up in the morning, we should think ‘let’s go to the court’. Williams shouldn’t have to ask.”, added Cade, stating that it is ‘unacceptable’ that the coach has to ask for greater commitment from his players. The upcoming calendar also doesn’t help the team, which faces eight teams with more than 50% success.
