vice-president CSKA Natalia Furaeva, in a conversation with , denied the information that the Moscow basketball club is interested in signing a contract with American defender Austin Hollins.
Earlier, Sportando journalist Emiliano Carchia reported on the social network that CSKA was interested in Hollins.
The American previously played in Russia in 2019-21, when he played in the VTB United League for Zenit. Later he played for Serbian Red Star and Israeli Maccabi Tel Aviv.
— We talked in August that we were looking for another player. And only Austin Hollins is among the hundred names that made our consideration list. I was very surprised to read this news. Where did this come from and why now? Yes, we considered him, but he was one of about a hundred candidates. Besides him, there were a lot of players we just checked in with, asking about the situation. Again, 99 minimum (laughs).
– In a word, now you no longer consider him at all?
“He has been injured since February last year and is not yet recovered. If he recovers and we’re told he’s actually ready, maybe we’ll consider him, but at this point, no. And so, every day now there is a series of names, but, unfortunately, either the player does not suit us, or we cannot afford him, ”Furaeva told the correspondent.
