Comu received Oeste in Plateado de Mercedes for the National League. It was a victory for Ferro who achieved a very important goal as a guest, in extra time and also managed to extend the bad streak accumulated by Comunicaciones to six consecutive defeats.
West continues to add
The battle over the Mercedina lands is highly contested. Although Communications led the scoreboard for the most part, the distance never exceeded ten points. The first half was completely home team with a good performance by Marcus Thomas Jr. (18 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal). The American point guard was the piece that went the distance in the opening minutes against Oeste. El Cartero leads the points by four units.
In the second half, Ferro raised his level with Mariano Fierro (21 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal) carrying the team on his shoulders. Caballito’s team managed to even the score and at times, they took the lead. And with 45 seconds left in the match, Thomas Jr. scored a double. and tied the points at 82 points for both. After losses and mistakes on both sides, they went into extra time.
Five extra minutes brought a small score. The decisive player for Oé was Damián Tintorelli (19 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks). The power forward scored two consecutive baskets to pull Federico Fernández’s team four points clear of the locals with 49 seconds remaining. Comu scored again but it wasn’t enough and Ferro won by two goals.
What’s next for you two?
Ferro Carril Oeste will play next, continuing its route north to visit La Unión in Formosa. This could be a good chance for Caballito’s team to get a win and continue climbing the table. But Sepo Ginobili’s team wants to end their losing streak and return to victory at home. On the other hand, Comunicaciones will continue in their home field and host Unión de Santa Fe, another team that is not going through the best moment and probably Comu’s chance to end its accumulated defeats.
