Euroleague: Facundo Campazzo player of the month

Cordoban took the prize for the best competition in the old continent, with amazing numbers.

Facu Campazzo dominated the game in November as Real finished 5-1. The white team remained undefeated until the last match. During their visit to Turkey, they lost against Fenerbahce in overtime, by just one point. Until that moment, Campazzo was close to perfection. He led all EuroLeague players in November with an average of 23.5 performance rating and 8.3 assists. He also contributed 16.0 points; with 82.1% on two-point shots and 100% on free throws. With numbers like that, there’s no mistaking the fact that Campazzo and Real were ahead of everyone else in November.

The winner of the MVP of the month award is named by Euroleague Basketball based on his and his team’s performance. The award is based on the six games played by all EuroLeague teams between Thursday, November 2 and December 1. This is the second time Campazzo has received this honor. The first time was in April 2019.

The moon for the white team:

To open the month, Real ended Virtus Segafredo Bologna’s five-game winning streak in a resounding 100-74. In that game Campazzo scored 18 points, 11 assists, 6 rebounds and 3 steals for a 39 rating, the highest of his career. Subsequently, with 15 points, 5 assists, 5 boards, 2 steals and a PIR of 23 from Córdoba, Real won 76-73 against Valencia Basket.

Campazzo scored 12 points and a PIR of 14 as Real defeated AS Monaco, 91-73. He went on to score 7 points and 13 assists, season highs in the Euroleague, for a PIR of 19 and beat ALBA Berlin 99-75. In a postponed sixth round game in Belgrade early last week, he had 11 points and 9 assists for another 14 PIR in a 70-99 loss against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv. Two days later, Real Madrid led by one point in overtime before a Campazzo turnover allowed host Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul to win 100-99 on the final play of the game. Until then, Campazzo had been brilliant, leading Real the entire game with a career-high 33 points and tying a EuroLeague record by making 11 of 11 two-point shots.
