Gimnasia y Esgrima de Comodoro Rivadavia defeated Obras Basket 96-62, after the third quarter they dominated 40-10. The scorer of the match was Emiliano Toretta with 19 points, while, in the visit, Franco Smaniotti contributed 14 points.
The match, played at the Socios Fundadores stadium, got off to a shaky start on the part of both teams, with only one shot converted for Gimnasia by Gerard De Vaughn in three minutes. The game continued evenly throughout the quarter where Obras was able to lead Vanegas’ triple from the corner (8-9), but the Patagonian team was able to stretch the difference thanks to Brandon Nazione’s contribution to close the quarter 18-14.
In the second quarter, Rockero led again on the scoreboard (19-22) thanks to the contributions of Pedro Barral and a triple by Franco Smaniotti. From there and with good defense, Obras increased the advantage, reaching nine points (21-30). Despite Gimnasia’s attempts to reduce the deficit, Obras would go into halftime 31-38.
After halftime, Gimnasia regained the lead thanks to a triple by Toretta and Webster and a double by Iván Gramajo to stretch the lead to eight points (48-40), prompting a timeout on the part of the Buenos Aires team. Thanks to a good defense, El Verde continued to stretch the lead late in the third quarter to close it at 71-48.
In the last quarter, Gimnasia made the time and the difference more in his favor despite the attempts of Obras to Inyaco and Smaniotti to reduce the difference, but the Patagonian team gradually closed to finish 96-62.
