Head coach of basketball “Zenith” Javier Pascual spoke about the well-being of the team player Sergei Karasev who was injured in the match against CSKA on Sunday.
Karasev was injured during the fourth quarter of the match with the military team of the VTB United League (89:104 OT). The basketball player fell on his back after a collision with Samson Ruzhentsev and was only able to leave the court on a stretcher, accompanied by a medical team.
— Is there any news from Sergei Karasev?
– Not yet. He goes to the hospital, his back hurts a lot. We must pray that everything will be okay.
— How did you manage to put together the team for the end of regulation time? Considering all these problems.
— After Karasev’s injury, we completely lost our focus and concentration, it was difficult to come back. But after a minute and a half to two, we started to come back, step by step. We still didn’t perform well in certain situations, but we finally came back into the game. Gerasimov’s throw was almost out of time, we were a little lost in terms of psychology, physics and everything,” the coach said according to the Zenit press service.
