General Director of the VTB United League Ilona Korstin said that the death of Avtodor President Vladimir Rodionov was a big loss for the entire Russian basketball.
On Monday, the Avtodor press service announced that Rodionov died at the age of 77. He was president of the club for 41 years. As Kazan UNICS President Evgeny Bogachev told , Rodionov died in the hospital during a heart operation.

Vladimir Evstafievich, who was president of Avtodor for more than 40 years, trained more than a galaxy of successful players, was the personification of Saratov basketball and was deservedly included in the Hall of Fame of the VTB League in 2023. Rodionov is an Honored Coach of Russia, a member of the VTB United League Hall of Fame. Under his leadership, Avtodor won the regular Super League A championship twice, became a four-time silver medalist and two-time bronze medalist of the Russian championships.
