NBA: Anthony Edwards backtracks after controversial comment: “In the heat of…”

After an alleged exchange of messages with a model, in which he ordered a girl to abort a pregnancy, Anthony Edwards backtracks in a statement

Anthony Edwardsshooting guard of Minnesota Timberwolvesshared a note on his social networks this Monday, the 18th, apologizing and going back on the comments he had made to a woman, begging the girl to abort a supposed child she had with the player.

“I made comments in the heat of the moment that are not who I am and are not in line with what I believe in and who I want to be as a man. All women should be supported and empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them. I am dealing with my personal matters privately and will not comment further at this time.”said Edwards, about exchanging messages with the model Paige Jordae.

During the last weekend, Anthony Edwards was tagged in several publications with screenshots of messages in which there is a photo with a pregnancy test with a positive result, as well as other offensive messages from who, supposedly, was the player, with lines such as “ No f…, you can have this” and “Get an abortion lol”. The publication also includes a photo of a US$100,000 transaction, with messages from the athlete saying that “I will send you money to help”.

The leak of the images comes just four days after Edwards’ girlfriend, Jeanine Robel, announced her pregnancy recently by sharing pregnant photos of the Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard and star. The team takes the court again this Monday, 18th, against Miami Heat.
