First champions of the new NBA tournament, Los Angeles Lakers reveal special banner before the match against the New York Knicks
On the night of this past Monday, the 18th, the Los Angeles Lakers enjoyed the match against New York Knicks at Crypto.com Arena to reveal the champion banner of the In-Season Tournament from the NBA. The Angelinos had not played at home since December 5th, when they played against Phoenix Sunsin the quarterfinals of the World Cup.
The championship celebration banner is rectangular vertically and has the colors black and gold, different from the traditional NBA champion banners, which are rectangular horizontally and with gold and purple as the main colors. The idea in the new banner is to be unique, with space to include other years if the team lifts the cup again in the future.

Furthermore, game spectators received personalized tournament t-shirts, but ended up not being as ecstatic with the reveal, mainly because the banner was on a less prominent wall in the gym, next to the first titles in the franchise’s history (1949, 1950, 1952, 193 and 1954), even when they were minneapolis lakers. With 17 total titles in the NBA, the team is the league’s biggest winner, alongside the Boston Celtics.
The Lakers were undefeated champions of the first NBA In-Season Tournament. In Group A of the West, the team beat the Phoenix Suns, the Utah JazzO Portland Trail Blazers and the Memphis Grizzlies. In the quarterfinals, the team from Arizona again, guaranteeing the place for Las Vegaswhere he triumphed against New Orleans Pelicans in the semi-final and won the trophy against Indiana Pacers at the final.
