Ginzburg’s team led by 5 points a minute before the end, but could not maintain the advantage
Prometheus I gave in offensively London Lions in an incredibly dramatic away match of the 12th round of Group A Eurocup – 88:89.
The entire match was played with variable initiative. The Ukrainian team started the match better, going ahead by 8 points. But the hosts managed to win the first quarter in a high-scoring shootout. In the next segment, the British managed to slightly develop their advantage and secure +9 by the big break.
The hosts kept the opponents at bay for almost the entire third quarter, but at the end of this period Prometheus made a breakthrough, and already in the fourth quarter he dictated the terms. A minute before the final siren, Prometheus led 88:83, but dramatically lost the victory. The Lions literally snatched victory thanks to a successful three-pointer in the final seconds.
Ronen Ginzburg’s team failed to take revenge for their defeat in the fourth round. However, Prometheus retained sixth place in the table and a place in the playoffs. London Lions are in third place.
In the next round of the EuroCup, Ginzburg’s team will play on December 27 with the Slovenian Olimpia.
