The new manager of the basketball club”Avtodor ” became Oleg Rodionov, reports the club’s press service.
At the general meeting, Oleg Rodionov, the son of the permanent president of the Saratov basketball club, Vladimir Rodionov, was elected the new executive director of Avtodor.
“For me, there is a huge responsibility and duty to my father, as well as to all of Russian basketball, to preserve the legacy and continue the lifelong work of Vladimir Evstafievich Rodionov. I would to reassure our loyal supporters: nothing will fundamentally change in the fate of the club. We will do everything possible to proudly carry the Avtodor banner and raise the high bar set by our father.
We will do our best to ensure that Avtodor remains the flagship of Saratov sports and achieves victories at the highest level. I thank the regional leaders, the Minister of Sports, the VTB United League and the Russian Basketball Federation for the support, assistance and guarantees provided during this difficult period. Our task is to maintain the course set by Vladimir Evstafievich to achieve sports results and train players,” said Oleg Rodionov.
The death of 76-year-old Rodionov, who held a management position at Avtodor for 41 years, became known on Monday. As Kazan UNICS President Evgeny Bogachev told , Rodionov died in the hospital during a heart operation.
Saratov Avtodor is in 11th place in the United League standings.
