The club is still planning to sign newcomers
Prometheus head coach Ronen Ginzburg spoke about the tasks of the team for the upcoming season.
According to an Israeli specialist, club president Vladimir Dubinsky really wants a successful performance in Europe. To this end, Prometheus plans to significantly strengthen the composition.
“If you talk to our president about goals, he always has the same goal – the Euroleague. He always runs forward. Our first priority is to be safe. So that everything goes well, to finish the season fully, and not like last year. Of course, we want to reach the playoffs of the Eurocup – there, in one match, anything can happen. You can have a bad season and win one match, you can have a good season and lose. Therefore, in the Eurocup, we must reach the playoffs.”
“In Latvia and Estonia we would like to be in the top 4 or even in the top 2. Those are our goals for the season.”
“We plan to sign one or two Ukrainians. Also two or three foreigners. In total it will be a team of 12-13 players plus one or two young players from the second team. I hoped that this season the guys from the reserves would go to the weaker teams of the Ukrainian league for playing experience and confidence, but, unfortunately, they have nowhere to play there now. Therefore, they will be with us.”
Last week, Prometheus recognized the opponents of the Eurocup group stage.
Recall that Prometheus signed contracts with center Vyacheslav Petrov, defenders Issuf Sanon, Ilya Sidorov, Alexander Lipov, and forward Ivan Tkachenko.
Prometheus will play the next season in the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League.
