The leadership of the National Basketball League remained an innovation during the Covid pandemic.

Play-ins from next season will be a mandatory part of the National Basketball League calendar. According to ESPN, today, July 12, the governing board will approve the changes as a regular part of the league’s next seasons.

It will be recalled that the play-in began to play out due to the coronavirus pandemic. Then, to determine the playoffs, they decided to hold an additional tournament, as the teams played a different number of games in the regular season. It will be held before the playoffs to determine the final seventh and eighth seedings. Eight clubs will participate in the tournament.

The seventh and eighth teams of each conference play against each other, the winner of the match receiving the final seventh seed. The loser meets the winner in the meeting of the ninth and tenth teams, the best in this confrontation receives the eighth seed.

The NBA voted to include play-in annually in the 2020/21 and 2021/2022 seasons. And in order not to repeat this procedure every year, the management intends to make the tournament permanent.

The Governing Council is also expected to adopt a rule punishing fouls at fast breaks, making it impossible for teams to score points while outscoring half the opposition.
