Former player and great idol of the San Antonio Spurs, where he was champion, shows that he is paying attention to Victor Wembanyama’s steps in the franchise
Even with a dark season of San Antonio Spurswith many difficulties in winning a match, the French freshman Victor Wembanyama is managing to stand out. Suffering the worst campaign of the Western Conferencethe giant of France showed potential to be a superstar, being able to become the team’s greatest leader as he improves during his first year at NBA. Thus, the former All Star, idol of the Texas and multi-champion LaMarcus Aldridge took the opportunity to give some important advice to the young athlete, via “ClutchPoints”.
“He is so talented. I would simplify this shit for him: make your (confidence) move, even if it’s in the last period. In my case, he was a *fadeaway, he used and abused from the beginning to the end of the games”, revealed the former player, during an interview with “Showtime Basketball”. LaMarcus still believes that Wembanyama can greatly benefit his game by constantly practicing one or two specific plays to score a basket. Some of the league’s greatest legends relied on certain pitches that became deadly weapons in the athlete’s offensive arsenal, even becoming signature moves, such as the skyhook from Kareem Abdul-Jabbaror the one-legged fade away jumper Dirk Nowitzki.
“[Victor Wembanyama] is so skilled. I would just break his sh*t down… Get a move that if it’s the 4th quarter, you’re gonna go to it. My sh*t was always the fade… It helps you stop thinking so much.”

“I feel like he’s so skilled, he’s got 18 different moves in his head and he’s playing really fast right now. Take it easy and have two moves up your sleeve.”, added Aldridge. The Frenchman has been a key player for the Spurs this year, with averages of 18.3 points and 10.6 rebounds, and is also the NBA’s leader in blocked shots, averaging three per game.
With solid numbers, Wembanyama hopes to improve his shot usage, which may reflect a lack of maturity in some contested shot decisions. Even so, he still has a good performance with 43.3% shooting from the field and 27.8% from the perimeter.
