Head coach of the Miami Heat Eric Spoelstra will sign a new contract with the Florida NBA club for 8 years, reports ESPN.
According to the publication, during this period the specialist will earn more than 120 million dollars. This is the largest training contract in North America.
Spoelstra is the NBA’s second-highest paid coach on an annualized basis behind San Antonio’s Gregg Popovich (around $19 million), but the overall length of his contract will put him ahead of his colleague in terms of earnings.
Spoelstra, 53 years old, head “Miami” since 2008. Under his leadership, the Heat became NBA champions in 2012 and 2013 and reached the Finals four times.
Miami sits in sixth place in the Eastern Conference with a 21-15 record.
