A basketball club from Dubai (UAE) could participate in the Basketball Euroleague from next season, reports Mundo Deportivo.
According to the publication, the participation of the Dubai club in the tournament depends on the decision of the Euroleague negotiating committee, which includes representatives of Panathinaikos, Bayern, Barcelona and Fenerbahce. Approval of a Dubai club’s participation in the tournament could come at the February meeting of the Euroleague’s 13 shareholder clubs, including Moscow. CSKA .
The Dubai side is proposing a contribution of 150 million euros to the tournament budget over 6 years. It is expected that each of the 13 EuroLeague shareholder clubs will receive one million euros each season over the next five years thanks to this investment. In exchange, Dubai requires a team from its city to compete. The city would also like to host two Final Fours, which was refused, but it is considering the possibility of creating something like the Super Cup in Dubai during the season, the Arab side is interested in the participation of Barça and Real Madrid .
