Basketball player from Chinese “Shanxi” Alexey Shved told how his transfer to the Serbian “Star Zvezda” and also stated that he is ready to sign a contract with the VTB United League club in order to participate in the playoffs of the tournament.
In the summer of 2023, Shved left CSKA Moscow and moved to Shanxi, which plays in the Chinese Basketball Federation (CBA), at the end of October. In addition to CSKA, Khimki and Dynamo Moscow, Shved spent several years in NBA clubs in Minnesota, Philadelphia, Houston and New York.
— Obviously, false information about you appears periodically in our press. Does this bother you?
“I don’t understand why you should print fictitious things.” Complete nonsense. Like, I supposedly have a three-year contract here, the amounts are crazy, that just can’t exist. If only because there are salary restrictions in China. My agent has already said everything on this subject, it’s difficult to add anything. It is strange that even reputable publications allow themselves to publish such incorrect information. A sort of yellow press.
— Before China, there was a lot of talk about your possible transfer to Serbian Red Star…
“We have been waiting a long time for this story to be resolved. I know that in Belgrade and Serbia I am treated very well. We negotiated with the club, but it didn’t work. I can say it’s not our fault.
— You already said that your season was short. Projects, what’s next?
— In China, the agent is already offering me some options. But I want to wait until the end of the season. Then the three of us sit down, me, Obrad, a Chinese agent, and discuss everything.
— Theoretically, you have time to reach the United League or Euroleague playoffs. Can’t you rule out this possibility?
“I have been open to suggestions throughout my career. If a good team contacts us and offers a decent contract, then why not. “I am ready,” Shved said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
