NBA Assistant Head Coach Warriors of the Golden State Dejan Milojevic died at the age of 47, according to the Red Star Belgrade website.
On Wednesday, the NBA announced that the regular season game between the Utah Jazz and Golden State would not take place on January 17 due to the hospitalization of Milojevic, who fell ill after a team dinner at a Salt Lake restaurant City.
“Red Star received with great sadness the news from the United States that our former gold team player, national team coach, great basketball player and also our great friend Dejan Milojevic died of a heart attack,” the statement said.
The Serbian Basketball Federation, Spain’s Valencia and Partizan Belgrade also expressed their condolences.
Milojevic joined the Warriors coaching staff in 2021. In 2019, the specialist was appointed assistant head coach of the Serbian national team, but two years later he left the national team.
Milojevic became 2001 European champion as part of the Yugoslav national team.
