Communications receives the Fusion in El Plateado de Mercedes for the National League. Quimsa had to make the game to win, but they managed to pull it out. There are already 15 wins for the defending champions and they walk away from the Olympic, with one less contested match.
The title defense, more current than ever
The match started with the local advantage, Fusion couldn’t get into the game and Comu took advantage. Led by Marcus Thomas Jr. (28 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals), Balbis’ team led in the first half. They achieved superiority in both quarters, reaching their maximum distance of 12 units. However, at the end of the second quarter, Ramella’s team recovered and went into the break with a narrow lead.
The second half was all Quimsa, they knew how to stretch the short distance they reached at the end of the previous half. Emiliano Basabe (15 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals) led the people from Santiago. This served to get the Fusion’s highest lead of the match, which was 11 points. Although Comunicaciones tried to get back into the game and got two units closer, the visit increased and they distanced themselves again. Quimsa won by seven points and now has 15 wins in the competition and 11 in a row.
What’s next for you two?
Quimsa will finish its route in the next match, perhaps one of the most anticipated of the season. They will visit Olympic de La Banda in Vicente Rosales. Both are in first position, however, those from the capital have a good advantage over Black. The classic promises a lot, Leo Gutiérrez’s men can break the great streak accumulated by Ramella’s men. While Comunicaciones will only play again at the beginning of the month of February when they will host Rockeros de Núñez. Both have their own goals, just as Obras wants to get into the top four, Comu wants to get out of the bottom of the table.
