Athletistic / Basketball. Former PBC CSKA captain Nikita Kurbanov has been disqualified for three months. A 37-year-old Russian man is accused of cocaine use.
According to RIA Novosti Sport, the decision to suspend Kurbanov from professional sports for a period of 3 months was made by the Commission for the preliminary examination of cases of violations of the anti-doping rules of RUSADA. The period of prohibition is calculated from the date of the decision – from January 10, 2024, with credit for time served for temporary suspension, i.e. from October 20, 2023.
Nikita Kurbanov won the Euroleague three times as a member of CSKA and became champion of Russia 11 times (including seven victories in the VTB United League). It is noteworthy that in 2019 Kurbanov was recognized as the most valuable player in the VTB United League.
Interestingly, in October it was unexpectedly announced that Kurbanov had suspended his career. Apparently this was related to the proceedings of his case in RUSADA.
