“If there are no Americans in the Czech Republic, it will become less spectacular, but it gives our basketball players a chance” – Eremin

Honored Coach of Russia Stanislav Yeremin expressed the opinion that in the absence of American basketball players, the Russian championship would be less spectacular, but this is a good opportunity for national athletes to prove themselves.

Earlier it became known that the Women’s NBA (WNBA) due to the arrest of Brittney Griner has established an unofficial ban on performance in Russia for players. In July, Greiner pleaded guilty to drug trafficking in Russia.

– If you start from the beginning, it is absolutely correct that this basketball player was detained. As for the women’s NBA, they make their own rules in their village, and they don’t care about anyone. And somewhere, we also have to behave the same way: make our own rules. We have to defend ourselves and also introduce our own laws.

The Russian championship will undoubtedly be less spectacular, but on the other hand, it gives our basketball players a chance. The second point is that a holy place is never empty: both in Europe and in Australia there are players of a sufficiently high level who can come in good material conditions.

I think the time with the boycott against us should be used to raise the level of our basketball, to give young Russian players a chance. This applies to women’s and men’s basketball, Eremin told .
