Former Denver and Toronto basketball player signed contract with CSKA

CSKA signed a contract with American basketball player Will Barton, according to the Moscow club’s website.

The agreement with the 33-year-old defender runs until the end of the current season.

— I am grateful to have the opportunity to play for CSKA. I have only heard good things about the club and the supporters. Willing to invest time and effort to compete and win at a high level. I can’t wait to get here and start working,” Barton said.

— Will is a famous player with extensive NBA experience. He has to prepare for European basketball, it will take him a little time to adapt to it. I hope that the February vacation will give enough time to include Barton in our team and our system,” said head coach of the “red-blues” Emil Rajkovic.

Barton was selected 40th overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2012 NBA Draft. The guard has also played for the Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors. In total, he played 679 regular NBA games, averaging 11.2 points per game, 4.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He also played in 29 games in the NBA playoffs.

CSKA leads the VTB United League standings with 22 wins in 25 matches.
