The two top shooters in the most important competition in the United States will meet during the All-Star Game weekend.
The All-Star game is just around the corner and the NBA is constantly looking for ways to keep fans aware of everything that is happening inside the playing field. In recent weeks, with the confirmation of the kit and the first quintets, the amount of comments about what is to come has flooded the social networks. Exactly in that scenario, one of the most interesting attractions of the night took place: Stephen Curry against Sabrina Ionescu in a three-point tournament. This is the first time that the two stars of the most important competition will face each other.
The rivalry will take place on Saturday, February 17, during All Star weekend, which will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The two heroes will duel head-to-head once the competition itself is over. As for the regulations, each will be adapted to the characteristics of its own competition. The Golden State player will use the NBA ball and shoot at the distance of the men’s league (7.24 meters). The New York Liberty will use the WNBA and the women’s distance (6.75 meters).
This rivalry was born between the two shooters after Ionescu broke Curry’s own record in the last edition of the WNBA All-Star Game. The 37 points, out of a possible 40, was the highest score in tournament history. In one of the last games of the Warriors, Curry declared “I think I have to challenge her… we have to solve this once and for all”. The Liberty player did not shrink and responded to the star: “Let’s do it!! See you at the 3-point line”
In the 23/24 NBA season, Curry averaged 27.3 points per game with an average of 40.3% effectiveness from the perimeter. In her WNBA career, Ionescu averaged 37.7% shooting from beyond the arc. If we go back to his college days with Oregon, that number jumps to 42.2%.
