Ukraine lost to the Czech Republic in the first match of the U-20 European Championship

The outcome of the meeting was decided in overtime

Team of Ukraine in basketball lost to the Czech Republic in the first match of the group round European Championship U-20.

Vitaliy Stepanovskiy’s wards lost the first half, having problems in defense. The Czechs had the best shooting performance, going into the big break by 9 points.

In the second half, the Ukrainians made two breakthroughs in each of the quarters. Our team managed to win back the gap, but missed the chance to take the lead. Regular time ended with the score 80:80.

In overtime, Ukraine played already without two key players – the main point guard Kovlyar and big man Shimansky – who scored 5 fouls each. The Czechs from the start of the five-minute period made a breakthrough 7:0 and brought the match to victory.

Ukraine will play their second match in group C on July 17th against Lithuania.
