Memphis Grizzlies will retire the jersey of Marc Gasol, one of the franchise’s greatest idols; number 33 will be immortalized in April

In a video published on social media last Thursday, the 1st, the Tennessee team confirmed that the Spaniard will be immortalized in their arena. O center was chosen in 48th position in the 2008 draft by Los Angeles Lakers and was traded to the Grizzlies by his brother, Pau Gasol.

For the Memphis franchise, he is the leader in minutes played (25,917), starts (762), baskets (4,341) and rebounds (5,952), in addition to being the second player with the most points (11,684) and assists (2,639). It was three times All-Star and Defender of the Year in the 2012-13 season.
For international basketball, he won two silver medals at the Olympic Games and two gold medals at the World Cups. After 2019, when he left the Grizzlies, he went through Toronto Raptors, where he was NBA champion, and with the Lakers. In 2021, he left the United States to close with Gironaa club that he himself helped to found.
