The All-Star Game will take place on surfaces developed in various tournaments around the world.
The NBA continues to add details to the annual event that is coming to the best competition in the world. Like every year, the most important and famous basketball stars will meet in a new All-Star Game. The ceremony promises to already have many ingredients for a successful recipe, but far from stopping, it continues to add accessories to the main characters’ party. In addition to the change in format and details such as the clash of shooters between Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu, on Monday afternoon it was made official that the game rectangle will also have news.
The NBA will participate in what FIBA is doing as well as implemented by Bayern Munich. It is a floor composed of LED screens that provide the viewer with various details to enhance the visual experience. It will be used for two three-point competitions (the traditional one and the one between Curry and Ionescu), the dunk contest and the skills race. It will also be used for a celebrity meet-and-greet on Friday night.
According to a promotional video promoted by the NBA, this new visual experience will have design and color changes, live replays and other video content, real-time game statistics, animations in location-based player tracking, interactive games for fans during timeouts, immersive animations after plays and key moments. The idea is that it is not a supplement that ends up being shocking for the spectators and it adds another element to the great show that the players put on the field.
This type of floor has begun to be implemented by FIBA, in the tournament of the Spanish National Team in 2023. At first there were some points pointed out by the players about the difference of the surface and how it negatively affected the game. Bayern Munich later implemented it in the Euroleague, the most important sports competition on the old continent.
