La Fusión hosts Riachuelo de La Rioja at the Ciudad de Santiago del Estero Stadium for the National League. Quimsa won again and extended its winning streak to 16 games in a row, Ramella’s team is one match away from repeating a historic mark. This feat consists of 17 consecutive victories and is held by Peñarol (1993/94), Atenas de Córdoba (2008/09) and Quimsa itself (2014/15).
One game away from history repeating itself
The match in Santiago started surprisingly for the visiting side. Riachuelo dominated the scoreboard throughout the first half with less than ten points but in consistent fashion. The limited advantage that kept Fusion in the game was achieved thanks to the contributions of Andrés Ibarguren (12 points, 11 rebounds, 1 block). Quimsa managed to get a unit behind once, but El Lobo managed to distance himself again. At the time of the half-time break, González’s team was leading by five points.
The second half remained the same at the beginning of the third period, Riachuelo was unable to reach the double digit distance and Ramella’s men began to close. Little by little and with lots of inside play and paint penetration, the Fusion took the lead in goals and quickly took the lead. They achieved it together, but the leader of the game was Tayavek Gallizzi (11 points, 12 rebounds, 1 block) who had similar statistics to his counterpart from the Rioja team. The leaders took an 18-point lead at the end, but Lobo scored and Quimsa won by 12 points.
What’s next for you two?
Riachuelo will continue its tour of Santiago del Estero and visit the Fusion chasers on the table. They will face an Olympic team that wants to return to their peak performance, a point they have shown especially in 2023 and it will be a great match to watch. El Lobo is fighting anyone to get into the Reclassification at the end of the season. While Quimsa will have the last match at home and host San Lorenzo at Ciudad Stadium. A Ciclón that seems to have killed the good game they showed last year, but in a game where they are, they can beat anyone. However, the leaders are playing to repeat a historic record in the National League and it will be an exciting match for both.
