Moscow CSKA I turned on the basketball player Nikita Kurbanov in the bid for the next VTB United League match for the first time since his disqualification, according to the club’s website.
In January, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) announced that Kurbanov had been suspended for three months for cocaine use. Last October, the CSKA captain announced the suspension of his sporting career “for personal reasons”. The period of disqualification for the 37-year-old attacker therefore ended on January 19. The military club said Kurbanov would return to training with the team after his suspension, but would not serve as captain.
On Sunday, CSKA will meet Parma Perm in the away match of the second stage of the VTB United League.
— For the first time after a long break, Nikita Kurbanov will appear in the CSKA lineup. “Over the past few days, the striker trained actively, brought himself into playing condition and now will have the chance to be on the field again in an official match,” CSKA said in a statement.
Kurbanov is a seven-time winner of the VTB United League, the striker won the Euroleague three times as a member of CSKA.
