Former player Austin Rivers, who played for the Los Angeles Clippers alongside JJ Redick under Doc, blasts former teammate after criticizing his father
This past Tuesday, 20th, during his participation in the “First Take” program, the former player JJ Redick blasted the current coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, Doc Rivers, saying that the veteran commander never takes responsibility for his work. Knowing that he would become the target of criticism, the “ESPN” commentator had no idea that it would come from a former teammate and that there would be so many people involved in the fight.
Still on Tuesday, the 20th, the coach’s son and also a former player, Austin Riversparticipated in “NBA Today” and decided to attack Redick, with whom he played in the Los Angeles Clippersboth under Doc’s command. “His best years were with the Clippers. I don’t think he saved his career, without disparaging Pat (Beverley)… but in terms of responsibility, what are we doing here?”said the former point guard.

Rivers also cited Pat Beverley because, on the same day, shortly after Redick’s comment, the current Bucks point guard used his social media to respond to the commentator, clearly attacking him more than defending his coach. “This guy, Doc, actually saved his career. He made you a starter when no one else wanted to. And you go there, retire, go on TV and say something like that.”, he wrote. The two still responded to each other, but it stopped there.
Austin followed through with his comment and intensified the offensive. “His best years in the NBA were when he played for him and the Clippers. Let’s not forget that. I don’t know if there’s some frustration there or some tension between the two of you. I know that many times we had to take you off the court at the end of the game for defensive reasons.”shot.
“The trend is always making excuses… Taking over a team in the middle of a season is hard… it’s always an excuse. It’s always throwing your team under the bus… there’s never accountability with that guy.”
