Lakers coach reveals irritation with refereeing

After the defeat to the Suns, the Lakers coach spoke about the match’s refereeing team and expressed dissatisfaction with decisions

Darvin Ham was upset with the referee’s performance in the team’s defeat Los Angeles Lakers for the Phoenix Sunsby 123 to 113. After the match, the coach felt that there was no congruence in the referees’ decisions.

The California franchise had just eight free throws taken, while the Suns had 19 – more than double. It was the Lakers’ lowest mark of the season, surpassing two other 13-attempt opportunities. The team averages around 24.5 per game.

I see opponents with their hands on the ribs, or hitting our players on the head, trying to block the shot, but they don’t touch the ball. These plays are not being called fouls, simple as that. We have to find a way to not let this become a problem, but it’s difficult. Again, it’s very frustrating when there are inconsistencies,” Ham said.

A lot of people, coaches and teams say, ‘All the Lakers do is get to the free throw line.’ This narrative exists. We have players who attack the big box. That’s what we do. Yes, we shoot from the perimeter, but we’re not going to try 40 or 50 threes in a game. We are not like that and we do not have the luxury of being like that. So, working inside the bottle, that’s what we’re good at”, added the coach.
