Game leader “Samarah” Mikhail Kulagin told that he has no motivation problems because Russian basketball players are deprived of the opportunity to participate in international club and national team tournaments.
The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has suspended Russian teams from participating in international tournaments in 2022.
— This is your first season in Samara, how have you adapted?
— I like Samara, it’s a good city, a great team has been formed. I’ve already met a lot of guys at other clubs. There is a cool atmosphere within the team.
— You are now 29 years old, a good age, but the Russian national team is now isolated from international tournaments. How are you coping with this situation?
— Of course, it is sad and a shame that at present there is no possibility of playing in major international competitions. It’s a shame, there’s nothing more to say.
— Do you have motivation problems because of this?
“No, I never had problems with motivation,” Kulagin told .
Earlier, the head coach of the Russian national team, Zoran Lukic, said in an interview with Meridiansport that the national team will play two or three friendly matches in China in June. Earlier in February, the national team was defeated by Samara in a friendly match (77:78).
