Chris Paul stated that Daryl Morey lied about the exchange that took him from Houston Rockets for the Oklahoma City Thunder. In an interview for the program Dwyane Wadethe player of Golden State Warriors commented on the leader’s promises and the negotiation.

“I was at the gym training and Daryl calls me… He said ‘I’m just calling you to make sure you don’t want to go to OKC’ and I said ‘No, I brought 15 people to Houston’. Then he said ‘Okay, I was just making sure. I would never trade you to a place you wouldn’t want to go, because you chose to come to the Clippers,’” commented the veteran.

Morey worked as the Rockets’ general manager from 2007 to 2020 and was responsible for the trade that took CP3 from the Los Angeles Clippers. On that occasion, there were seven players and a first-round pick to count on the point guard.

“I chose to leave for Houston from LA… I’m at home relaxing, I was on the phone with Jada (Chris’ wife) and then I got a notification saying I was being exchanged [para OKC]”said the guard. Paul had been on the team since 2017 and was not expecting any movement involving his name.

“Then my phone rang and it was Daryl calling. And then Daryl was like, ‘Hey man, things happened too fast,’ and I was like, ‘It’s okay, I just want you to say something. You said you weren’t going to change me, right?’. And then he said ‘Yes, I said that, but…’ and I said ‘That’s all I need to know’”,concluded the Warriors player.
