The Blue-Yellows continue to fight to keep their place in Division A
Ukrainian national U-20 basketball team lost to peers Slovenia in the first match of the mini-tournament for 9th-16th places European championshipwhich takes place in Montenegro.
The Ukrainian team went on a big break, losing in the score – 40:43. The blue-yellows failed the third quarter and allowed the Slovenians to increase their lead to 15 points.
In the final segment of the game, Ukrainian basketball players reduced the gap to a minimum, but in the last minute Slovenia made a breakthrough and got the final victory – 86:81.
Maxim Shulga became the best player in the national team of Ukraine. He scored 34 points and had five assists.
In the next match, Ukraine will play against Poland, which today lost to Greece (67:82).
Recall that Vitaliy Stepanovsky’s team finished the group round in third position of the quartet C. In three matches, the Ukrainians scored one victory (against Lithuania – 71:69) and were defeated by the Czech Republic (86:98 in overtime) and Spain (58:89).
