La Gloria received the Comunicaciones de Mercedes in the Caldera de Alta Córdoba for the National League. It was a victory for the Instituto, which remains third after coming back and battling with Platense who were insurmountable. Victoriano’s team now has four wins and one loss in defense at home.
The Caldera is brighter than ever
The match started in Córdoba on the visiting side, the Mercedes team seemed superior in the first minutes of the game. In the initial half and led by Marcus Thomas Jr. (17 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals), Comunicaciones dominated Gloria on their court. Comu’s effectiveness from the triple has gone from high to low, as well as getting fouls due to dominating the paint is part of the distance. They separated themselves from the locals by nine units, but Victoriano’s team recovered throughout the second period. Instituto managed to tie it up and they retired at halftime tied at 35.
As Communications dominated the first half, the second half began a battle with constant leadership changes. Until Glory enters the game, dominates, breaks away from the goals and begins to seal the victory. Bautista Lugarini (16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal) led those from Córdoba in victory. They got the advantage with the young man getting to the basket and scoring from mid-range or through dunks. Finally Instituto won again after coming back and did it by 12 points. They maintain third place in the National League with Platense following close behind.
What’s next for you two?
Comunicaciones will face Riachuelo de La Rioja at the Superdome. The Comu are at the bottom of the standings in an attempt not to fight for permanency, while the Eternals are in Reclassification for a while. While the Institute is going on the road to spend a few days in La Banda. First, they will play the semifinals of the Super 20 Cup against Olympic on March 13. And days later, the 17th will have to face Negro again but now in the National League.
