The authors of the monument were not very careful when carving about the legendary basketball player.
Recently, the Los Angeles Lakers unveiled a statue of Kobe Bryant, placed in the team’s home arena, and a scandal has already erupted around the monument.
The monument began to attract a lot of attention from fans not only because of the personality of the legendary basketball player, but also because of the implementation of the project.
According to ESPN, the carved marble base of the statue contains several spelling mistakes. In applying the engraving, the names of Jose Calderon and Vaughn Weifer are misspelled, and the word “Decision” is also misspelled.
Kobe Bryant’s statue seems to misspell ‘Jose Calderon,’ ‘Von Wafer,’ and ‘Coach’s Decision.’ 😬

In a comment to the publication, a representative of the Lakers said that the organization has been aware of the errors for several weeks, and will correct them in the near future.
We remind you that the Lakers are planning to open two more monuments to Kobe Bryant: on one, the “Black Mamba” will wear a jersey with the number 24, and on the other, he will be with his daughter Gianna, who died with him in a plane crash on January 26, 2020.
