Two consecutive victories against Minsk and Uralmash in VTB United League matches should give MBA momentum in the Russian Cup Final Four match with Paris Nizhny Novgorod, general director of the Moscow club Igor Kocharyan told .
The final four of the Russian Cup will take place from March 15 to 17 in Yekaterinburg. The semi-finalist pairs were Paris Nizhny Novgorod – MBA, Zenit – Uralmash.
MBA will meet Paris Nizhny Novgorod on Friday at 3:00 p.m. (Moscow time). Residents of Nizhny Novgorod are the current holders of the Russian Cup.
MBA takes 6th place in the standings of group B of the VTB United League, the Nizhny Novgorod team is in seventh place.
— These are already title matches, and one or two Final Four matches of the Russian Cup decide whether or not you win medals and what their value is. — How do you assess your chances against Nijni?
— I think in principle they are pretty good. The results of the season’s meetings show it. But on the other hand, this is a specific match where everyone will give not 100, but 200%. So the chances for both teams are quite high, and they will try to give their best and reach the final. I have no doubt that there will be a fight on every inch of the pitch. Our advantage? We won the last two matches of the VTB United League (with Minsk and Uralmash – editor’s note). We hope that this will give positive emotions, some kind of impulse to feel good in the semi-finals. Our main principle is aggressive defense and rapid attack,” Kocharyan told the correspondent.
