Wolves employee steals more than 5,000 confidential NBA files

While the Timberwolves’ vice president was traveling, a team employee entered his office and took a laptop with thousands of confidential information.

Somak Sarkarformer technical analyst at Minnesota Timberwolveswas arrested this Monday, 19th. The employee was accused of stealing a laptop with thousands of confidential information from the franchise and company strategies NBAaccording to “ESPN”.

The former Wolves will undergo his first trial soon and is already in state custody. In addition to facing criminal proceedings, Somak was fired immediately, but before his contract was terminated, he managed to download all the information to other devices.

Minneapolis police conducted a sweep of Sarkar’s home, where they found several hard drives, three tablets and a computer. The more than five thousand files, which were distributed on more than one device by the analyst, are already in the hands of the authorities.

In early February, the team’s executive vice president, Sachin Gupta, left his personal computer in an office at Target Center while he traveled. Three days later, when he had returned, his device was no longer there.

According to the criminal complaint, images of Somak entering Gupta’s office more than once on the night of the robbery were found on stadium cameras. Sarkar said in his statement that he was just going to “put some things in it” and forgot to return the notebook.
