— How do you remember your years as a coach at CSKA?
— I really appreciate my years of work at CSKA, because in 1990, when the USSR began to completely collapse, the borders opened. My friend Ivan Edeshko was then appointed head coach, with whom we began to work together.

CSKA remained a club with a name, but the privileged conditions that existed before have disappeared. They recruited people with bad characteristics, drunks, losers in life, everything bad. The staff was very difficult to manage, there were crimes that did not fit into the normal professional framework. There was drunkenness, the players did not come to training for several days, but they had to be made into a future team.
I was lucky that as a coach of the country’s youth team, I had the opportunity to “feel” with my own hands the best players of this age: Kudelin, Yudin, Panov. I invited them to CSKA, they trusted me.
