Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James breaks personal record and takes the opportunity to reflect hard on his career and imminent end
The end is inevitable, especially when we talk about sports careers. It can come sooner or later for any player, but it is a fact that it will come at some point. As the famous popular saying goes, time is the only undefeated thing in sports. The career of LeBron James at NBA is arguably at the end, as the star of Los Angeles Lakers is close to turning 40 years old. His performance on the court, however, indicates a longevity never before seen in the league.
“I’m not going to play basketball much longer. I’m already in my final stretch, so it’s certainly not 21 years anymore. So I know it’s about to end. I don’t know when this door will close for good and retirement will arrive. But I know one thing for sure: it’s ending for me. I don’t have much time left”said the player, after the victory over Brooklyn Nets.
The duel against the New York franchise was further proof of the veteran’s brilliant regularity. Scoring 40 points, he broke his career-high with nine baskets from the perimeter. At 39 years old, LeBron has the best three-point attempt of his career, at 41.6%.
“I don’t depend on a specific skill to score, as I can do it at any and all levels. But I always wanted to be respected for my three-point shot. That way, other teams would have to worry about me still being far from the basket. I think it’s a feature that opponents still doubt can be dominant. So, it’s something I worked on.”said the four-time NBA champion.
