Triumph of Independiente, entering reclassification

The Córdoba team took advantage of the absence of the Olimpico to score an important victory in their bid to enter the post-season.

The close of the regular season of the National League is approaching and every game will start counting down to what will be the final positions in the table. In that context; Teams are not only affected by their own results, but also by their direct rivals. On Tuesday night, the victory of Independiente de Oliva against Olympic by 91 to 84 was key to the aspirations of the people of Córdoba to be excited about the reclassification. In the upper part, the other team from Córdoba; Instituto, celebrated the victory of his compatriots, as it approaches the Bandeños before the final stage of the regular season.

With tonight’s result, Independiente is once again among the top twelve in Liga, which will qualify for the post-season. With a record of 12 wins and 15 losses, they moved up to tenth position, knocking out Regatas Corrientes, who, with a streak of five losses, are out of the playoffs for now. Olympic, for its part, maintains second place in the table, but its gap with the Institute is narrowing. It currently has a record of 21 winning games, the same as La Gloria, who have added one more defeat (8), in 29 games played.

Six players ended up scoring in double figures for the local team, which speaks to a great collective effort. Joaquín Noblega was the star with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Agustín Pautaddo followed him with 13, while Jorge Banegas and Ezequiel Paz contributed 12 units each. In the visit the best came from the hands of Banyard, who reached double double figures with 15 points and 9 rebounds. It is worth mentioning that Patricio Tabarez is absent from Bandeño due to injury, by Penka Aguirre, due to the recent death of his father.

Independiente will start a new tour and leave for Buenos Aires, where on Saturday April 6th they will visit Obras at Templo del Rock. Olympic, for its part, will go to Santa Fe, where it will be the rival of Unión on the fourth Thursday.
